Here’s some of the best sales and marketing advice I ever got, in the old-timey words of Ralph Waldo Emerson:
“What will you have? quoth God; pay for it and take it.”
Meaning? You can have anything you want in life, as long as you pay the price for it.
This comes from his famous and excellent essay on the “Law of Compensation.”
If you haven’t read it, I suggest that you do so as soon as possible.
If you haven’t read it recently? Ditto.
It contains many powerful nuggets of information every human adult should know.
What I call: basic information.
Like the title of this blog, which is obviously referring to the fact every piece of ill-will you wish upon someone else also affects your character. If you spend your life dragging other people down, you'll stay down towards the bottom yourself.
And if you start dishing out Schlitz, then you better be able to take it.
But that's only one takeaway. The biggest principle is the idea that you pay for everything in life in one way or another.
Reading old Ralphy W. Emerson’s essay is liable to give you a sense of realistic perspective about the goals you have, including:
The necessity to pay in blood, sweat, tears, and yes: even money – for those things that you see when you dream about your future.
Reading that essay will help you eliminate the idea of making excuses, because you can simply put your dreams on a “payment plan” and start to pay today…

It’s not luck (in the traditional sense) that makes people successful – through individual effort, you become transformed into a successful person.
Each and every skill you gain today makes you “luckier and luckier” – because, simply put, luck is where preparation meets opportunity.
